The Mother of All Spa-lidays
I am a daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife and mother. I have always done something for the important women in my life on Mother’s Day. It is a day celebrated across the country. I’ve even sent cards to my best friend (addressed from her cat) on this day. So needless to say, it has never gone unnoticed in my world.
Since I became a mom, a little over 2 years ago, Mother’s Day has taken on new meaning. Sure, I appreciate a gift; afterall, thought and preparation went into the purchase–even if only a few hours before Sunday. Mother’s Day is so much more than a greeting card holiday that drains our bank accounts and induces stressed-out runs to the spa, restaurant or grocery store (good flower selections). It should be a reminder that ‘mom’ deserves more celebration than just one day a year. Maybe if we ensured this, we wouldn’t feel so panicked to buy the perfect gift or perform the greatest gesture on a Sunday in May.
Maybe I shouldn’t be telling you this, since in the end I will plug gift card sales for Spa Retreat, but my point is this: don’t just buy a 3 hour spa package one day a year, show her you care all year. I enjoy time. Time to dictate how I choose. That may be spending time with family, reading a book, or sitting in a dark, quiet room alone for hours. Give the women in your life the choice.
That’s what I love about spa time. I can use it when I choose to use it. I can get a goal oriented facial, or a relaxing massage. I can sit in the lounge or sauna for hours and no one will bother me! Just please, remember to give me the gift of a reTreat more than just once a year.
